So as you all should know, this past sunday marked Go Skateboarding Day 2009! I love GSD, it’s probably my favorite time of year. It’s always super hot and sunny and good times are usually had by all. GSD in Timmins isn’t a big landmark event like in Vancouver (see concrete magazine here and Push.ca), but we still have a good time. This year, West 49 donated a bunch of prizes and brought some free pizza and water to stay hydrated (36 degree celsius!). There was also live bands playing all day, but I couldn’t stay too late because I had to go to work.
In all, I think this years GSD, though small, was a success! I was so happy to see little rippers out there starting to skate. The Timmins skate scene isn’t as strong as it once was when I was growing up, so hopefully these little guys help rejuvenate it.
